LOCATION: BETH SHOLOM SYNAGOGUE
ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK DURING THEIR SHIFT
When you fill in the form below you are indicating your preferences for the weeks you would like
to volunteer. This does NOT mean you will automatically be volunteering on those weeks. You
will be receiving confirmation from our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Shari Fremeth-Tepper for the
dates and shifts you are scheduled for.
We may need to rotate people through different positions throughout the season and
appreciate your commitment to participating in various roles. As such, some volunteers may be
asked to work in the clothing room, sign in tables, serve, do dishes, etc.
We are anticipating that we will have a lot of people interested in volunteering and we will try our
best to accommodate everyone. This could mean that you will only receive 2 or 3
shifts this season. In addition we will be providing all volunteers with a 4 week schedule of
their shifts. Please do not show up on evenings that you are not scheduled to work as you will
be turned away in order to maintain fire code regulations and fairness to all the volunteers.
Please advise us ASAP at volunteer.ootcbsbt@gmail.com if you cannot attend a shift you are
scheduled for. Please do NOT have someone show up in your place. We will contact you in late
December regarding the first date in January. We thank you for your understanding and
continued support of our Shelter.
Please note that by signing up you are agreeing to work on those days if selected and therefore
please note that the Winter Holidays, March Break, and the week of Family Day overlap with our
program.
The duties for any given shift may vary from week to week and MAY include the following
duties:
4-5 PM SHIFT
-SET UP THE DINING ROOM FOR DINNER GUESTS
-MOVE AND SORT CLOTHING DONATIONS
4:30-6 PM SHIFT
-Preparing bagged lunches, including sandwich making
5-7 PM SHIFT
-PROVIDE PLATED FOOD TO VOLUNTEERS TO DISTRIBUTE
-STAFF COFFEE/TEA STATION
-SERVE DINNER AND BEVERAGES TO THOSE SEATED AT YOUR TABLE
-CLEAN UP FOLLOWING THE MEAL
-WASH AND DRY ANY DISHES/UTENSILS USED
-STAFF THE VOLUNTEER SIGN-IN DESK (MUST BE OVER 18)
-STAFF THE GUEST REGISTRATION DESK (MUST BE OVER 18)
-SORT CLOTHING DONATIONS
7-9 PM SHIFT
-STAFF THE VOLUNTEER SIGN IN DESK (MUST BE OVER 18)
-STAFF THE GUEST REGISTRATION DESK (MUST BE OVER 18)
-FILL CLOTHING REQUESTS FOR GUESTS
-ASSIST WITH ART PROGRAM
-HELP TO FACILITATE BINGO GAMES
-SERVE FOOD TO LATECOMERS
-PREPARE EXTRA LUNCHES
-ACT AS EXTRA SECURITY WHEN NECESSARY (MUST BE OVER 18)
-CLEAN UP FOR THE EVENING
This shift needs people to stay until 10pm to help clean up. You will be given the option to sign up for the additional hour if you are signing up for this shift.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MINIMUM AGE TO VOLUNTEER IS 11. VOLUNTEERS IN GRADES 6- 8 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
