MEADOWBROOK HIGH SCHOOL GRADE 9 SUBJECT SELECTION 2020
This form seeks to gather information on a student's subject choice for study in Grade 10. It is divided into THREE sections.

SECTION ONE gives pertinent information on subject selection and collects a student's demographic information (Name, Class, Email etc.)

SECTION TWO collects a student's subject choices.

SECTION THREE provides additional information to aid in Subject Choice Selection.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This form must be completed and submitted on or before Friday; May 29, 2020 at 3:00 pm. Subject choices are not guaranteed and are dependent on timetabling, teacher availability, class size and the guidelines overleaf. In any event, the school’s decision is final.

NOTE:
1. All students, in their first six choices, must do at least one science subject, either Biology, Chemistry,
Physics or Human and Social Biology
2. Industrial Technology students will do one of two options, either Mechanical Engineering Technology
OR Building & Furniture Technology and must do Technical Drawing.
3. Students doing Family and Resource Management must do Food, Nutrition & Health.
4. Students doing Physical Education & Sports must do Biology or Human & Social Biology (HSB).
5. Students doing EDPM cannot do Information Technology.
6. Students doing Human & Social Biology (HSB) cannot do Biology.
7. Theatre Arts and extra subjects may be possible, at a cost, in the Evening Institute.

MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARE COMPULSORY AND MUST BE DONE BY ALL STUDENTS.

Students are asked to select, in order of priority, SIX main subjects from the listing below. Students must also select THREE alternative subjects to be used, as necessary, if they are not placed in a subject within their first six subject choices. Forms will not be processed if alternative subjects are missing.

DO NOT REPEAT ANY OF THE MAIN SUBJECTS LISTED IN THE ALTERNATIVES PROVIDED.

Thinking of Sixth Form in the future?
TO DO A SUBJECT AT THE CAPE LEVEL, YOU NEED A GRADE 1 OR 2 IN THE SUBJECT AT THE CSEC LEVEL.

It should be noted that:
• To do CAPE Accounting, you need Principles of Accounts.
• To do CAPE Management of Business or Entrepreneurship, you need Principles of Accounts & Principles of Business.
• To do CAPE Economics, you need Economics and Mathematics.
• To do CAPE Computer Science or Digital Media, you need Information Technology.
• To do CAPE Physics, you need Physics and Mathematics.
• To do CAPE Sociology, you need History or Social Studies and English Literature
• To do CAPE Law, you need History, Social Studies or English Literature.
• To do CAPE Pure Mathematics, you need a straight A profile in CSEC Mathematics.
• To do CAPE Building, Mechanical Engineering Drawing (BMED), you need a straight A profile in CSEC Technical Drawing.
• To do CAPE Art and Design, you must present six (6) pieces of art work with three differing genre.
JUST SO YOU KNOW ...
It is agreed and understood that

• The performance of the student may determine the acceptability of their subject choices.
• For subject areas, with limited class size, preference will be given to students with a higher grade based on work done prior t
to the closure of school.
• All students must choose nine subjects: 6 Main Subjects and 3 Alternative Subjects from the list. Students will be awarded
and will study six (6) of the nine (9) subjects in school in addition to Mathematics and English Language.
• All students must do a science subject.
• All students must sit EIGHT subjects in the Grade 11 Mock Exams in March 2022 to be eligible for graduation.
• All outstanding and current fees must be paid before entry to year 10.
• The behaviour, co-curricular involvement and average of reported grades in years 10 and 11 will determine the eligibility of
the student for graduation.
