7th Grade Experience: Mountain Workshop
This letter provides some basic information relevant to the on site Mountain Workshop for 7th grade students on June 9, 2023.   Please contact the teacher if there are any questions.  If you wish your child to participate in this experience, please note your approval by signing below.

Mountain Workshop was founded in 1979 to develop and facilitate experiential learning and outdoor education programs that act as catalysts for personal growth and increased resilience, and to illuminate the value of diversity. The orientation & field day programs are designed as either a start of the year or end of year event. The group challenges are team building in nature that promote collaboration, problem solving, communication, fun and excitement. The year end Field Day with Mountain Workshop helps strengthen the relationships between students to last all summer. Teachers also take part in the activities with the students as a continuation of building quality relationships. Throughout the day students will be participating in a variety of small and large group challenges.

The Board of Education and Administration recognize field trips as a valuable part of the school program and as an extension of the school's curriculum. Therefore, all Policies and Regulations are in effect at a school-sponsored activity on or off campus. Participation in a field trip by students is regarded as a privilege and not a right.  Students are reminded that they are representatives of their school and community during field trips and appropriate behavior is an absolute requirement. All school rules apply on field trips, and students who violate these rules during a field trip face appropriate penalties as outlined in the Student Parent/Guardian Handbook.

There is a limited amount of funding available for students who may be unable to afford expenses for field trips or other educational activities. Parent/guardian may contact Annie Mohr, Assistant Principal of HKMS to apply for "Field Trip Assistance Grant funds".

Payments for all field trips are non-refundable. The student and parent assume the personal risk of loss of the deposit or payment.

Please complete the following form allowing your child to attend this field trip.  If you have more than one child in the seventh grade, please fill out the for separately for each one.

We look forward to this exciting experience with our students!
Sincerely,
The 7th Grade Team
