Every day, Faustian bargains hurl toward us. “Scroll here, click accept.” “Fill your car and heat your home with fossil fuel.” “Walk past that unhoused person.” “The government’s gone off the deep end, so just worry about yourself.”
How do we survive these bargains? When will Mephistopheles come to collect? Or, do we really think we can escape payment forever? Can we repent, as Goethe’s protagonist does on his descent to Hell? How do we resist temptation and instead repair, heal, and work towards something better? Somewhere in these questions is Theater in Asylum's next show. Join us as we investigate hope, Faust, capitalism, and a second Trump presidency.
