WE Professional Learning Sessions - Spring 2018
WE hosts Professional Learning Sessions in the greater Chicagoland area to provide an in-depth and innovative look at service-learning. Join us for one of our monthly sessions, or invite our Manager of Professional Learning to your school or group!

All offerings are built around service-learning best practices and the Illinois service-learning mandate. Educators will reflect on their own practice and discover how to integrate service-learning principles and WE Schools resources into their existing programming or curriculum.

Participants will earn 2 CPDUs
Inspiration & Dinner will be provided.

WE Schools: Midyear Meet Up - Tuesday, January 30th, 5-7pm
TUESDAY, JANUARY 30th, 5-7pm, Doors Open at 4:30pm at TFA Office, 300 W. Adams St. Floor 10 Come meet key members of our team (Motivational Speaker, Program Managers, and Manager of Professional Learning), and educators from across the Illinois. You will have an opportunity to choose your own track: Orientation or Collaboration! You will have an opportunity to share resources, gain a deeper understanding of service-learning theory, and co-plan with Program Managers how to link curriculum content to service-learning actions.

WE Villages - Mamas Making Moves, February 8th
[RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER] FEBRUARY 15th
Learn more about how our WE Villages sustainable development model empowers women throughout the world. In preparation for Valentine's Day and Women's Day (March 8th), we'll be sharing our favorite resources for students to make an impact with their words, their individual choices, and collective actions.

Spring Into Action, March 22nd
In preparation for the warmer weather and Earth Day, we'll dive into ways colleagues are linking service to environmental sustainability and physical and mental health both locally and globally. You'll have an opportunity to get feedback on current plans, co-plan, or deep dive into tools that can support you in launching spring actions.
We'll have an opportunity to take a Special Deep Dive: WE Walk For Water Toolkit.

Building Student Ownership & Storytelling, May 23rd
Report & Celebrate - This session is designed to support you in harnessing the excitement after WE Day (ex. host a mini-WE Day or leverage Student Yearbook for reflection). We'll dive into ways to meaningfully reflect, record, and share the shifts in thinking they've made throughout the year and the impact students have had on their communities.

WE Deep Dives: Best Practice Sharing (Focus: Focus: Develop Student Leadership through Service-Learning) These sessions are for educators who have a deep understanding of service-learning theory, but want to collaborate with colleagues to further foster student leadership through service-learning projects. There are thematic offerings each month based on grade level, content area, and cause-specific service-learning projects. We invite you to pick 1-2 sessions that would be most relevant for you and your students and their development. Come with ideas, questions, and resources of you love as we collaborate with colleagues.
