IFLRY has the pleasure of welcoming applicants for a seminar on Peace, democracy and cooperation in Northeast Europe between 5th and 8th of October.

The region of Northeast Europe has been plagued by conflicts throughout history and though the conflicts are fewer, we still see violence in the region and tensions are still high between some of the countries.

The aim of this seminar is to bring together young people from Northeast Europe to discuss what can be done to promote long-term peace in the region. This topic will be explored by discussing several topics such as democracy, advocacy, youth participation, and how to fight populism. We will also discuss what we can do to integrate countries within the EU, how the eastern partnership can be improved and what we can do to promote cooperation between our countries. In the spirit of promoting cooperation we will also have some joint sessions together with Social Democrats who are hosting an event in Stockholm during the same weekend.

Participants profile

In order to apply you have to be member of an IFLRY-member organization from one of the following countries: Sweden, Ukraine, Belarus, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Lithuania or Poland, Moldova, Georgia.

Note that the number of participants is limited to around 20, and that we expect all participants to speak English since no translation will be available. The participants will be selected based on their motivational text and with the aim of having of having representatives from several countries.

The deadline for applications is: 10.09.2017 @ 00:00.

Applicants must register through our online form.

All required fields must be filled in. IFLRY will not accept blank nominations. If you have any preferences for roommates, please state it in the form. For any questions, please contact the Secretariat by e-mail: office@iflry.org.

Applications will be taken on a rolling basis, so make sure you register as early as possible to secure a spot.

Date & location

Arrival: Participants are expected to arrive Thursday 5th of October.

Departures: Participants are expected to depart on Sunday 8th of October.

Location: Stockholm, Sweden.

Please note that full completion of the programme is mandatory to qualify for a refund. There can be no late arrivals or early departures. If you wish to see more of Stockholm, please consider staying extra days prior or after the seminar—on your own cost—as there will be little time for this during the programme.

Participants will be accommodated in double rooms. Should you wish to request a single room or additional nights in the hotel, you can add this to your nomination and we will strive to satisfy your request. You will however have to bear these additional costs yourself.

Costs:

We will cover costs for accommodation (5th of October- 8th of October, 3 nights), breakfast, lunch and dinner during the seminar and travel costs for flight, train or bus to Stockholm. Do note that we will not be able to cover cost of travels within Stockholm.

The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a maximum of the following:

Swedish, Norwegian and Danish participants: up to 100€
Finish, Polish and Lithuanian participants: 200€

Ukranian, Russian and Belarusian participants: 250€

Azerbaijan, Armenian, Moldovan and Georgian particpants: 400€

We expect you to book your own tickets, and we will require original receipts in order to reimburse the costs after the event.
