"Glenn Goldman Booksellers’ Scholarship Application - Due Aug 20th, 2018"
Glenn Goldman, founder & owner of Book Soup, West Hollywood was a bookseller who
valued an opportunity to get together with other independent booksellers to dis-cuss
business, learn from one another, share a favorite read and learn something new to take
back to Book Soup. Unfortunately, Southern California lost Glenn in 2009
to cancer. To honor Glenn, Adrian Newell, Book Soup and Southern California Independent
Booksellers Association (SCIBA) have established a scholarship fund. The
purpose is to provide an opportunity for booksellers to attend some of the events that Glenn
attended and appreciated.
This year the Glenn Goldman Booksellers Scholarship Fund (GGBSF) will award two

One scholarship to the SCIBA’s Trade Show, October 20th and 21st, 2018. This
scholarship will include a ticket to the Children’s and Adult Awards Luncheons, a tickets to both Author Receptions, a night at the Sheraton and a transportation allowance to / from the event.

The second scholarship will be for the ABA’s Winter Institute Albequerque. The scholarship will
provide hotel stay for three nights, ABA meal fee and a transportation allowance.

Applicant Requirements:
Must be currently employed in a brick and mortar bookstore that is a member of SCIBA.
Minimum of two years experience in bookselling.
Not available to owners or senior managers.
Recipient will be required to write a one page re-cap of their experience for the SCIBA E-newsletter and web site.
Please complete this application by August 25th, 2017. The GGBS committee will
review all applications and make their awards by September 15th, 2017.
