Being in Nature and Telling our Stories with Donna Williams & Marguerite Sands
Who: Pre-teen and teen, young adults and even older adults if interested. We want to be sure the preteens have a voice in the conversation but if it’s adults who respond, we can accommodate that, or possibly separate into two groups. Dogs are always helpful too.

Drawing from the skillful means and Peacemaking protocols of the 8 Shields Institute, together with the good efforts of the Touching The Earth collective, we’ll work with awakening and enlivening the senses through nature, exploring various activities in our respective locations, and sharing the stories of our experience in the community of our subsequent meeting.

Participants are encouraged to keep a journal, or sketchbook, or whatever else might help prompt your memory so that when we are together you can share what you noticed or experienced from those explorations — or perhaps tell us about something else altogether that happened along the way!

At the end of each meeting, a new mission will be suggested. These adventures (prompts) will be posted in the google group forum:!forum/being-in-nature-2020, for anyone who misses a class or needs a reminder. This is for your review, or IN CASE YOU MISS A GATHERING — that way you can still participate in the exploration and join the conversation for the next time.!forum/being-in-nature-2020

Participants interested in the entire sequence of seven gatherings, or drop-ins who are available to join a few sessions (having worked with the exploration beforehand) are both welcome. There will also be time for questions and discussion, and your feedback is welcome.

Material list of things the participants will need to have handy for the workshop:

Notepad, or sketchbook, pencils or other preferred expressive medium … something that might help to prompt your memory so that when we are together again you can share the story of what you noticed or experienced, as mentioned above. This could be either a large or small part of what you do independently. It could be a time to write or paint or sing or dance, or to be very still … there’s no one way. We’ll follow a basic format and whatever each person brings to that will be their unique contribution; standing out or blending in, equally welcome.

Meeting at 10 am ET for 7 Sessions on the following dates:

Monday Aug 3, Thursday Aug 6,
Monday Aug 10, Thursday Aug 13,
Monday Aug 17, Thursday Aug 20,
Monday Aug24
