February 10 Vernal Pool Branchiopod (shrimping) field trip (11:00 am)
The Sacramento-Shasta TWS board welcomes Members to join us for a the annual vernal pool branchiopod survey of the Moore Ranch Open Space Preserve in Placer County. Geared towards early career professionals, students, and those with a desire to see the elusive "fairy shrimp" in the wild. This field trip will include shadowing permitted biologists as they conduct the annual wet season large vernal pool branchiopod survey for the Preserve. The Preserve contains created and preserved vernal pools and was established to compensate for development-related impacts.  The Preserve supports the federally threatened vernal pool fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lynchi), as well as the common California fairy shrimp (Linderiella occidentals) and California clam shrimp (Cyzicus californicus).

A release of liability is required for this field trip. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and parking is limited so carpooling is encouraged, however, there is no cost. The Preserve is located near 4015 E Catlett Road, Lincoln, CA 95648 and details will be provided to registered participants. Field trip limited to 10 participants.
