The Silver Acorn Award recognizes unit level volunteers who demonstrate selfless service to the Scouts of the unit they are serving in. An acorn holds safe a single seed of an oak tree. It protects that seed for up to 18 months ensuring that the seed is prepared to fulfill its place in the world. From that single seed an oak tree can grow to 100 feet and stretch its branches to over 135 feet. Oak trees can live 1,000 years and in the span of its life will produce 10 million acorns.
A leader should embody the spirit of the acorn. Instilling the Scout Oath and Law into kids so that those youth will have a large and lasting impact.
One leader from each unit in the can be awarded a Silver Acorn, per year. A leader should not earn more then one Silver Acorn from a unit, but can earn multiple ones if nominated from different units in which they are registered. This person DOES NOT need to be a registered volunteer.
Silver Acorn awards will be presented at your district volunteer recognition dinner.
