Working with Sensitive Research Data in the SDE
The University of Chicago has launched the Secure Data Enclave (SDE) as a service designed to provide a secure computing environment for University of Chicago researchers who work with sensitive data. As part of the SDE offering, researchers will have access to Research Computing Center (RCC) MidwayR, a restricted high-end computing to store and process regulated data,  and to ITServices commodity resources. This hands-on workshop will provide an overview of the MidwayR ecosystem, how to get an account on MidwayR, how to securely transfer data to MidwayR, and ultimately, how to do computing on MidwayR. The workshop will also introduce UChicago ITServices Enterprise SDE resources and explain what type of workloads could be suitable to run on virtual machines and Windows-based environment.

Objectives: Attendees will learn how to login to the SDE environment, transfer and store data, and analyze secure data once a Data Use Agreement (DUA) has been executed or when they generated sensitive data.
