SES Middle School Mini Classes: March 17 & 19, 2026
For many years it has been a tradition in the SES middle school to invite parents, guardians and community members to teach Mini Classes. This is a time when we draw on the expertise and interests of our school community to teach an enrichment course to our middle school students who are excited and passionate to learn from you and step outside their usual learning format to engage with something new.

Parents from any grade level can teach a class! Some examples of past classes are: woodworking, sewing, computer programming, trail running, history of radio, purse/wallet making, poetry, watercolor, yoga, chess and card games, self-care and face masks, how to start your own business, how to start a band, movie making, and much more.

SCHEDULE
March 17 and 19 (Tues. & Thurs.) from 9:05 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. (~6 total hours over 2 days)

INSTRUCTOR EXPECTATIONS
Time: Ideally, you will prepare material for 2 days, 3 hours each day, with anywhere from 7 to 21 students, depending on the nature of your class. You will see the same group of students both days, so make sure your material or projects build upon each other and can be accomplished in 6 hours total.

It is really important that if you commit to leading a class, you plan to be there BOTH days, or, have a plan to teach with a buddy and share the days! Otherwise, students miss out and it challenges the unique schedule of this week.

Materials: Instructors provide their own materials necessary for a successful course. If you need something we have at school (like students to have Chromebooks, or a specific type of space or equipment), please indicate that on this form and we will discuss options.

I.E. "Zine Making" or "Rizzlers: How to Make Small Talk for Shy Folx"  or "Self Care: Mindfulness & Meditation for Middle Schoolers" or "Trail Running." If you don't have a snappy name right now, no problem! Be as specific as possible about what you plan to teach and we'll help you iron out the details to market it to students.
