WOWD requires commitment. Our programs are live and local and require you to commit to being in our Takoma Park studio to do your scheduled shows live. Additionally:
1. Programmers are asked to put in volunteer hours off-air as well as on-air. Volunteer tasks include staffing events, doing administrative work, helping to clean up, helping with promotion, assisting with studio operations, and so on.
2. Applicants are encouraged (although not required) to apply in teams of two. You and your partner can either serve as simultaneous co-hosts or as alternating hosts. You and your partner would also collaborate in the planning and production of the show and sub for each other as needed. (Teams of three are also OK.)
3. Takoma Radio programmers must complete our 2-part Training of Programmers (TOP) course before going on the air. Invitations to TOP will be sent to applicants if your program application is approved by our Programming Committee..
4. Each WOWD programmer is encouraged (although not required) to support the station financially through a voluntary donation. The recommended level is $120 per year, or $10 per month ($60/year or $5/month for students.)
You will have the ability to move back within the program application process and to edit your response even after you have submitted it. You cannot, however, move forward until you have answered the required questions on each page. To preview the full application, click here: http://bit.ly/2c3lTOw. You will still need to submit the application from this page.
After an initial review of your application, we may ask you to submit a sample show produced in our studio in order to further evaluate your program. (We provide a studio engineer to assist in recording the sample show.) If you already have a self-produced sample show feel free to submit to to us as well.
Email us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
