CURB PMP Spring 2017 Mentor Application
Program Details/Mentor Responsibilities:
• Lead and advise interested peer groups on how to get involved with undergraduate research in your fields of study.
• Assist in organizing research seminars, presentations, lab tours (required), and writing workshops.
• Lead discussions and participate in research events.
• Develop relationships and connections with other undergraduate students and professors in the research community.
• Be assigned mentees; within each group, each mentor will be responsible for ~4-6 students
• Lead a tour of your lab, with permission from your professor
• Provide support to all mentors and mentees in the program

The expected time commitment for a mentor is on average 6 hours per month. Most of our events will take place during weekday evenings, especially Wednesdays (around 5-7PM).

Note: You must have at least one semester or one summer of research experience to be eligible to apply to be a CURB Peer Mentor.

All CURB Peer Mentors will be assigned to a particular group of mentors based on similar research fields/interests and will be interacting with other mentor groups as well. NOTE: Please try to be mindful of upcoming breaks such as February break and Spring break in your schedule

Please Pick up to Three Dates for your lab tours/shadowing experience. These will be a commitment of 45 minutes to an hour and all mentors are required to invite about 6-8 mentees at least over 1 or more tours.

These dates should range from March 1st to May 1st.

It is recommended to consult with your PI in advance to receive permission to invite other students into your lab space and/or share information about your project.
