Petition for UM to Consider the Use of Geothermal Energy
Montana has extensive reserves of geothermal energy available. Utilizing this energy to heat and cool university buildings would significantly reduce our carbon footprint and create cheaper energy, potentially leading to lower tuition costs. There are federal funds available as grants from the EPA for this type of research, which UM could apply for, meaning costs would not add to student tuition.
