Reservoir Cross Country 2024 Team Rules and Expectations
1.
All athletes will maintain a high level of academics, social responsibility, punctuality, and respect yourself, teammates, teachers, and coaches. You should conduct yourself as young men and ladies and remember that you represent who you are, who we are, and who Reservoir is at all times.
2.
Team is going to be the key to success on this team. We will all be responsible for helping our athletes at all times in practices, in meets, and in the classroom.
3.
Attendance will be taken. If in school you are required to attend practice unless otherwise exempt for a valid reason as agreed to by one of the Coaches or overall school policy. Coaches should be notified of any absence. In order to run in a meet you must be at practice the day before unless otherwise indicated by one of the coaches. If you are not attending practice you must notify either coach via email.
4.
Communication is the single biggest tool you have as an athlete and parent. If you communicate with the coaching staff, there is a good chance we [coaches/athletes/parents] can work through just about any conflicts
5.
If you are going to miss a meet, you must notify a coach at least 72 hours ahead of time. Failure to do so could result in a loss of participation in the next event. Emergencies will be handled on a case by case situation.
6.
If you have an injury or feel that you need to see the trainer, you must notify one of the coaches prior to visiting the training room.
7.
Saturday practices are mandatory, and they are highly advised for your development. Coaches are not required to hold Saturday practices, however we do so for the benefit of the athletes.
8.
On inclement weather days, we will meet in the Cafeteria or Atrium.
9.
You should be ready to go at 3:00PM, not just arriving. Afterwards, you should be picked up from practice within 30 minutes of the end of practice. If your parents are unable to do this, please arrange a carpool with teammates. Failure to do so could result in dismissal from the team.
10.
We encourage all players to ride on the bus home from competitions. If it is necessary to ride with your parents after a competition, a note is required to be turned into the coaches before we leave school. Parents must be seen and acknowledge at time of departure.
11.
At practice, a filled water bottle and a healthy snack is required everyday. Hydration and proper nutrition is very important not only at practice but also all day long. Also, make sure you are eating so that you have the energy needed to workout.
12.
I-pods, cell phones, mp3 players, etc. are not permitted at practice. They are to remain in your locker or backpack during practice times. Unless you are using them for a stop watch. No headphones are allowed during practice.
13.
No XC athlete should be in the weight room unless supervised by a certified weight room coach.
14.
All athletes are expected to follow the prescribed workouts. The cross country coaching staff invests a lot of time into coaching education to ensure that we are coaching our athletes the proper techniques, drills, workouts, etc. Each workout is designed to have a daily goal which fits into the overall progression of the training for the season in order to help prepare each athlete for the championship portion of the season. Failure to complete the workout or follow the workout plan could result in missing a meet.
15.
You are expected to turn in your uniform in the same condition as received, at the end of the season or you will be held financially responsible.
16.
All coaching staff decisions are final. All decisions will be made with the benefit and success of the team in mind.
17.
All athletes will run up until the Regional Championships. All athletes are expected to attend and support their teammates at the State Championships.
18.
Any illegal activity such as but not limited to: smoking, drinking, fighting, or the use of drugs will result in suspension, if not dismissal, from the team.
19. RETURNING athletes must complete the minimum number of miles assigned to their level of running. A running log/Strava will be submitted for proof of those miles. Failure to complete the required miles could result in dismissal from the team or the athlete could be placed on probation until the coaching staff feels the athlete is fit enough to resume full practices.
20. RETURNING athletes must complete the two mile time trial no slower than thirty seconds of the previous year's time trial time.
21. By HCPSS Policy, you must arrive to school on time in order to participate at practice and in meets. If you are late, you must have an excused note/reason in order to be allowed to practice/compete.
