Thank you for your interest in the Girls Rock Campaign Boston (GRCB) Board of Directors. We look forward to learning more about you and having you learn more about us as part of our Board selection process. GRCB is in the process of exciting changes based on our new strategic plan, building new programs and opportunities for volunteer leadership and implementing new DEI initiatives for long term systemic change. It is an exciting time to be joining the GRCB board and have a part in the long term structural changes as well as support the mission of such an incredible organization. Girls Rock Campaign Boston empowers girls, women, and youth and adults with marginalized gender identities to believe in themselves by providing a supportive community that fosters self-expression, confidence, and collaboration through musical education and performance.

The Board of Directors supports the vision and mission of Girls Rock Campaign Boston (GRCB). The Board is responsible for ensuring that the GRCB’s strategies are aligned with its mission and vision. In performing its governance responsibilities, the Board forms policy, makes decisions and oversees the direction of GRCB, provides feedback about the Executive Director’s performance, and assesses and safeguards the financial stability of GRCB. As such, the Board focuses on mission, vision, and high level strategy, and delegates lower level strategy, tactics and operations activities to management.
ROLE OF THE MEMBERS
--Fully and constructively participate in the activities and deliberations of the Board and contribute to the Board’s ability to determine GRCB’s overall mission, vision and strategy.
--Be well versed in the By-Laws and strategy of GRCB and use this knowledge in deliberating and considering issues before the Board.
--Work cooperatively with the Board Chair, the Executive Director and other Members, provide valued input to the Board, and work within the framework of the Board to develop guidance and decisions towards the betterment of GRCB.
--Serve as an ambassador of GRCB to both internal and external constituencies.
--Fully understand, sign and submit conflict of interest disclosure forms in a timely way as requested and abide by GRCB’s Conflict of Interest Statement.
--Maintain the confidentiality of GRCB Board work as appropriate.
TIME COMMITMENT AND GENERAL TIMELINE
We have five, 3hr Board meetings per year. We generally have 1hr monthly check-ins. Additionally, there is work outside of scheduled Board meetings consisting of committee work, emails, special circumstance meetings, etc. This amounts to an average of 3-5hrs of work a week depending on the time of year. Meetings are generally in the evening on weekdays. We will send applicants who are interviewed a more detailed timeline to make sure this time commitment works for you.
