This ILA program seeks to recognize organizations, institutions, and individuals that have made significant literacy contributions at the local, state, or provincial level.
Nominations for the Nebraska State Literacy Association’s Celebrate Literacy Award will be accepted from current members of NSLA in the Greater Nebraska Area. The NSLA Celebrate Literacy Award winner will be honored at the NSLA Literacy Institute in June 2026. The honoree receives two tickets to the awards luncheon. They are responsible for all expenses related to transportation and accommodations.
Candidates who have shown exemplary accomplishments in any of the following areas may be nominated:
Direct teaching at any level
Organizing local literacy programs
Promoting support from the public relative to enhancing literacy
Producing teaching materials or special media for literacy programs
Conducting research in fields related to literacy
Conducting special surveys of importance for literacy planning
Providing young people the opportunity to help in literacy activities
Conducting informal educational activities of a social, cultural, economic, or political nature in which literacy activities are included.
Other areas related to literacy as deemed appropriate by the Educator Recognition Committee and NSLA Board of Directors.
