DOES YOUR WELLBEING MATTER TO YOU?
Over the summer, BuildaBridge Restorative Teaching Artists began to facilitate an arts-based workshop on self-care. Funded by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Task Force, eight human service organizations engaged in COVID-19 interventions participated in the session. By the completion of the grant, about 300 frontline human service employees and volunteers will have participated in the program.
The program combined the intrinsic value of art-making with art-making's neurological and psychological underpinnings. Participants engaged in experientials facilitated by the staff and learned tangible and "hard" skills to use in every day life. Every participant received a self-care kit that included material for participation in the the workshop as well as after. The program culminated in participant-created self-care plans informed by the workshop as a well plenty of "take-home skills" inspired by visual artists, musicians, writers and more.
We are eager to open this program up to the public and need your input to help gauge the necessity and the plausibility of a publicly accessible Arts of Self-Care workshop. If you are ready to commit, please include your email so we can reach out to you when setting a date is financially viable for BuildaBridge.
Most importantly....creativity is the opposite of hopelessness.
