2019 Clean Air Council Application
Overview
The Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition envisions communities where everyone breathes safe, clean air -free of hazards, toxins, and pollution- and where best available reduction, mitigation and elimination strategies are enacted. This year we are partnering with the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, and the Ecology Center, with the support of the Erb Family Foundation to conduct 8 sessions on clean air.

The Clean Air Council (CAC) shall promote quality of life, community health, safety, and environmental justice through enhanced air quality in SE Michigan by addressing sources of air pollution with technical, legal, and policy advocacy solutions. Among its several identified outcomes, the CAC will learn the basics of air quality regulatory environment, environmental racism, environmental health; build relationship with others interested in reducing air pollution burdens in SE Michigan and beyond; present and represent MEJC in community spaces.

We offer this training to enhance the ability of individuals to monitor and assess air pollution reports and permitting decisions by industry and government entities and offer independent data that may validate or repudiate such reports,
including participating in and engaging community participation in public permitting processes.
