New Scouts will be learning the basics of patrol camping, cooking, cleanup, outdoor skills, and just having fun at Camp Jarvis, home of Devon 50.
The activities will start at 4:00 on Saturday afternoon and finish around 10:30 Sunday morning. New Scouts will be camping with their assigned New Scout patrols. The troop is providing the food, and the Cooking Merit Badge Scouts will be preparing the meals, however each patrol and adults are responsible for setting up the three pot cleaning method for their own mess kits.
What to Bring: Please dress for the weather (rain gear?), wear your hiking boots if you have them, sleeping bag/pillow, sleeping pad, toothbrush/paste, wash cloth, plastic cup, plate, fork, spoon, flash light, spare cloths. Don’t forget your Scout Handbook (you will be able to get rank requirements signed off). The troop will provide patrol equipment, cleaning supplies, tents/ground cloths, etc. Adults who want to camp out can bring their own tent or buddy up with another adult, and/or you can also use troop tents.
