Women's Processing Group: The We Care Too Much Club
If you have been running on empty, holding everything together, and waiting for some mythical future moment to finally rest..Hi. you're in the right place. Right now, everything feels important and you would rather eat glass than let someone else down. You have a reputation to uphold…the reputation of being reliable, a good listener, creative, and thoughtful. Even when you can’t send a birthday card you at least try to send a voice note or text.

However, the older you get the lack of sustainability shows more and more. Hitting the ceiling of your capacity stirs the shame spiral up into a meltdown that can only be solved with a night of Bravo and a hot shower. You aren’t alone, but feel lonely…and envious of those who just “don’t care.”

Your shame is only accelerated by the deep, dark cynicism and resentment that lies underneath. From being the group project leader in high school to the now Board Chair…your ability to care has given you so much, but now it’s leaving you trapped. Breaking the cycle doesn’t mean you stop caring…breaking the cycle means you begin redistributing your cares to areas that have reciprocity and are truly aligned with your values.

The We Care Too Much Club is a processing group for women + non-binary folx (ages 30+) who give too many f*cks and want a life with more flexibility and options. Over 9 weeks we will process emotions and investigate patterns related to:

  • Chronic Responsibility: the tendency to take things on despite needing more capacity
  • Productivity Guilt: the identity shift from doing to being (and feeling less bad about it)
  • Bitterness and Grief: it’s there and you have to stop running from it

Then we will work on identifying shifts that will help you:

  • Make decisions based on willingness just as much as capability
  • Feel more confident with delegating and letting things drop
  • Become comfortable being a member in the community that receives just as much as they contribute

Our work will be rooted in RODBT and ACT principles. Group sessions will involve brief psychoeducation before processing with others. There will be flexible structure to allow room for the group needs while staying within the topic.
