WAYFC Board Member Application
The Washington Young Farmers Coalition (WAYFC) is a grassroots organization both for and by young & beginning farmers. Our mission is to recruit, support and promote beginning farmers in Washington State. We are a chapter of the National Young Farmers Coalition (NYFC). We offer unique social and educational events, enable access to critical resources, and foster community around food. We partner with other organizations to meet some of the most pressing needs of young farmers, including access to land, and financial support. Along with NYFC, we strive to raise awareness about issues and barriers facing young farmers, to share relevant resources, and advocate politically for beginning farmers at the local and national level. We recognize that we farm on indigenous land and that the history of American agriculture is explicitly linked to racial exploitation. We believe in a future of food that is environmentally sustainable and socially just.

Board members are the leadership and visioning team that drives the work of WAYFC. The board is supported by a staff member to help implement the programs of the board and perform logistical duties. Being a farmer or young is not required, but we are looking for half of our board members at any time to be farmers or under the age of 45.
