About Using the SpaceThe Omni Commons is a legacy community organizing space born out of Occupy Oakland in 2014, and purchased in September of 2024 by the Collective Action and Land Liberation Institute (CALLI) and stewarded by the East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative (EB PREC).
The Omni Commons is dedicated to keeping our movement ecosystems alive by protecting and fostering cultural spaces where artists, activists, and culture-bearers can preserve and build upon Oakland's radical legacy.
We are preparing the space for a new chapter of community and cultural programming. During this transition, we are limiting space use based on current conditions, staffing capacity, and permitting requirements. Our goal is to remain accessible while ensuring the safety, sustainability, and long-term viability of the space.

Current Event Capacity & Timeline
Please note, we are not accepting events in the Ballroom from February 1st - February 15th due to renovations and our availability will be heavily impacted throughout February until we complete our active work orders.
We are rolling out
Volunteer Day's to help us close the gap on getting the space fully operational. We encourage anyone who is interested in helping make the Omni available sooner to sign up
HERE. If you concerned about being priced out of a space rental with us this is also an opportunity to help us test a volunteer trade-for-space credit program.
If you are interested in hosting a larger entertainment event (open to the public or publicly advertised, alcohol is served, and entertainment is planned), please note:
- Fully permitted events require approximately 14–16 weeks of advance planning
- The earliest timeline for such events is May
- Though approval of such events may be delayed, feel free to submit an inquiry to stay in the loop about availability as we continue to prepare the space
