FRONT LINE STAFF: CSLP Summer Theme and Slogan Survey
The Collaborative Summer Library Program is currently collecting ideas for the summer 2028 slogan (theme: Mythical Creatures) and the summer 2029 theme (to be determined -- by YOU!). Results will be compiled and shared with your state rep (find your state rep here) and the CSLP Theme & Slogan Committee. Using your submitted suggestions, CSLP will make a list of the front-runners for state reps to vote on in Fall 2025 at the CSLP annual meeting. You can find a full list of CSLP themes and slogans here.

Now is your chance as a CSLP member library to make sure your voice is heard. Fill out the survey below and tell us what you think the 2028 slogan and 2029 theme should be. Happy brainstorming!

This survey will be open through Sunday, February 2nd. Please submit all of your ideas by then so we can pass them to your state rep for review.

2028 Slogan for Mythical Creatures Theme Suggestions
Definition of Slogan:

A short and striking or memorable phrase that promotes libraries, summer services, and CSLP. Recent examples: Color Our World (Art), Unearth a Story (Dinosaurs), Adventure Begins at Your Library (Adventure), All Together Now (Kindness/Friendship/Unity), A Universe of Stories (Space), Oceans of Possibilities (Oceanography), Libraries Rock (Music).

Tips for brainstorming slogans:
  • Slogans help narrow down a broad theme (in this case, Mythical Creatures).
  • Slogans should be adaptable for all ages (Early Literacy, Children, Teens, Adults).
  • The slogan concept must be able to translate into Spanish.
  • In many cultures, myths are considered sacred knowledge, and it may not be appropriate to include them in summer reading imagery or slogans. It is imperative to be respectful of cultural traditions and beliefs when making suggestions.
  • Avoid puns and wordplay. While a slogan like "Kelp yeah!" is fun and memorable, it might not work for all age groups and it wouldn't work to translate to Spanish with the same wordplay.
  • Slogans will appear on 2028 summer materials, so it should be catchy, memorable, concise, and applicable across all types of communities and settings.
