Short-Term Independent Study is available to students who correctly fill out the physical master agreement (available in the attendance office or click
HERE to print a copy), this digital application, will complete work while absent, and will be absent for 15 or fewer school days. The student will receive attendance ONLY when the terms have been met. Students who do not fulfill the terms will not be eligible in the future and current STIS periods will be canceled.
The master agreement is required to process your STIS application. Without a physical copy of the master agreement, the student cannot be placed on STIS.
If you are in need of long term independent study (16+ days), this is NOT the correct application. Please contact your student's counselor to complete the appropriate process.
If you are currently on STIS and have not returned to school, you do NOT need to complete this application again. Please email
lmartinez@avhsd.org to request an extension. However, we are unable to accommodate extensions beyond 15 days or during finals (12/16-12/20 and 6/2-6/5).
