Nominee Details - Hall of fame nominees shall include individuals who, through distinguished achievement, have excelled in one or more high school athletic program(s) sponsored by Starr’s Mill High School or a Starr’s Mill alum who has had a significant impact through their accomplishments, profession, or service. These individuals may include athletes, coaches, athletic directors, school administrators, teams, distinguished alumni, and supporters. All candidates will be judged on their significant and/or long term contributions to Starr’s Mill High School
Athlete - Any athlete who distinguished themselves in the field of athletics at Starr’s Mill High School. The athlete must be ten years removed from graduating from Starr’s Mill High School. Athlete must be a Starr’s Mill Graduate (Unless special circumstances) The athlete must exemplify Athletic ability, sportsmanship, character, leadership, contribution to the team and the games he/she participated in. A similar standard of ethics shall have characterized the years following their time at Starr’s Mill High School, to the best of the committee’s knowledge. High School athletic achievements will play a role in consideration (State Championships, All-State, All-Region, statistics, winning streaks, awards, college scholarships). Committee may also consider collegiate and professional experience post graduate.
Coaches - A former coach with at least 8 years of service at Starr’s Mill High School, who contributed to the success of Starr’s Mill athletes as well as established a record of outstanding achievement. Nominees must be 5 years removed from coaching or in special circumstances as determined by Board members. Accomplishments will play a role in consideration (statewide awards, statistics, and contributions to SMHS).
Teams - Teams must have distinguished themselves above and beyond regular standards in their respective sport. Standards included but are not limited to: State championships, undefeated seasons, regional championships, and area championships. The selection committee shall select no more than one team per year, and may choose not to select any team. Teams must have played their season a minimum of 10 years prior to nomination.
Alumni - Those graduates of Starr's Mill High School who have made significant contributions to the community, state, or country. Candidates must be 15 years removed from graduating at Starr's Mill High School to be considered as "Distinguished Alumni".
Other - An individual who has made outstanding contributions to Starr’s Mill High School.
