Freak Nature invites you to be a part of Puppet Sundae 2026 -- a different kind of "puppet slam" that is meant to foster experimentation and collaboration.
Here's how it works:
- Fill out this participation form by 11:59PM on Nov 30.
- On Dec 1, all participants will be sorted into randomized puppet collectives
- Over the course of the afternoon of Dec 5 (and any advance planning you do before then), all groups will develop a 7-minute-or-shorter performance with puppets (and we operate with a very loose definition of the word "puppet").
- All afternoon on Dec 5, the Elysian Theater's Skunk Room (and surrounding areas) will be open as a workspace, with ample puppet-building supplies available for free to all participating groups. Freak Nature members will be on hand for advice and puppet-building assistance.
- That night, the Skunk Room workspace becomes our performance space. All collectives will perform for a raucous crowd at 8pm.
Participation is free of charge! (also since folks asked, yes you can use puppets you've made before the day of the event, but we encourage you to make new stuff with your group too!)
