ACERT invites you to a day-long event celebrating the faculty and students’ innovative use of digital technology in the classroom. All Hunter faculty and staff are welcome to participate in these events:
Digital Pedagogy Prizes Ceremony (HE 1203, 12-2 pm): a celebration of winners of two prizes honoring innovations in teaching and learning. We will award a faculty prize for the best assignment using digital pedagogy and a student prize for the best example of digital writing. Lunch will be served.
Faculty Workshop (HE 1203, 3-4 pm) Title: “Build Your Own Digital and Print Books": Jack Dougherty will lead this hands-on workshop on building your own book, featuring open-source Pressbooks software, a WordPress derivative that generates multiple formats: web, epub, Kindle, and PDF for print books. Comparisons also will be drawn to similar tools such as GitBook and Scalar.
Keynote address (B126 HW, 5:30-7 pm): an address from Professor Dougherty on “Web Writing and Liberal Arts Pedagogy,” followed by a wine and cheese reception.
