This form allows you to apply for up to three projects for the BSc in Medical Sciences course at the University of Sheffield. Students can apply for up to 3 research projects or 3 surgery projects or a combination of both depending on their personal project preferences.
All students on this course will do the Ethical Research Practice and Research Skills module, and the choice of project (research or surgery) will determine whether you do the Understanding Medical Research Practice or the Understanding Surgical and anaesthetic practice modules.
Projects should be submitted in preference order (with 1 being your most preferred choice). You will then be invited for interview by the supervisors of the projects and successful candidates will receive one offer from their highest preference project choice possible.
The first round of applications opens on Friday 14 November and will close on 11 December 2025
Supervisors of the projects will have an interview with the applicants between 5-16 January 2026
The projects will be allocated based on a combination of supervisor and student preference and students will be informed of their application result in the week commencing 19 January 2026
A second round of applications opens on 10 February and will close on 27 February 2026
Supervisors of the projects will have an interview with the applicants between 9-20 March 2026
The projects will be allocated based on a combination of supervisor and student preference and students will be informed of their application result in the week commencing 23 March 2026
