This 1-hour training will provide an overview of the school-based Medicaid program in Illinois and review recent changes in state and federal policy. During this training, attendees will learn about:
-School-based Medicaid billing requirements, including service documentation, eligible services and service providers, and participation in the Random Moment Time Study (RMTS);
-Recent Illinois state policy changes, including free care expansion, cost settlement methodology, and specialized transportation requirements; and
-Recent federal policy changes, including unwinding of the continuous enrollment policy, newly revised program guidelines, and new federal resources for states and districts.
This overview will be facilitated by Kate Yager.
With more than 20 years of experience in public policy across state and local levels of government, Kate Yager provides unmatched knowledge of government and school Medicaid. Kate currently serves as the Director of Medicaid for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), overseeing all Medicaid programming at CPS, including service capture and claiming, quality assurance, and federal and state policy and advocacy efforts. She is on the National Alliance for Medicaid in Education (NAME) board of directors and an active governmental affairs committee member. Previously, Kate was the Deputy Chief of Policy in the Office of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, State Policy Director for Healthy Schools Campaign, and Director of Economic Research for the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation. Kate has a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Binghamton University.
This workshop is funded by a SAMSHA grant through the Illinois State Board of Education. Partners include WEST 40 Intermediate Service Center, Lurie's Children Hospital, Stress and Trauma Treatment Center and Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action, Inc and evaluated by Goshen Consulting.
