The goal of the summit is to heighten the importance of civic learning for the young people in California students with a particular focus on building pathways for effective citizenship beginning in elementary grades.

Sponsored by Californians for Civic Learning and the California Civic Learning Initiative at Teach Democracy, the Summit will feature civic learning leader keynotes, student presentations, a convening of civic learning organizations, introduction of a civic learning bill, breakout sessions for school administrators, policymakers, and specialized civics training for teachers.

Highlighting the urgent need to instill high quality civic education in our youth as future citizens is paramount to strengthening our democracy.  The summit will support educators, policymakers, and community members  to make civic learning a priority for all students in California.
