Winter Special Games is an event that started in 1972 and has run annually for 48 successful consecutive years through the Kinesiology Students' Association. It is a one-day event that invites both public and high school children/young adults with physical/intellectual disabilities from the London area to come to Western and be paired up with a Kinesiology student. Throughout the day both the student and volunteer have the chance to participate in a variety of different activities such as crafts and board games as well as many sports/games indoors. Participants have 2 Kinesiology student “buddies” that will spend the day with them. This event is completely free of charge and aimed to provide an amazing opportunity that brings together children/ young adults with special needs and Western’s Kinesiology students for a fun filled memorable experience.
