Sign-ups for the Eastside Elementary choir have begun! If your student is interested in joining the choir, now is the time to sign up! Choir is a yearlong commitment and students are given one opportunity to sign up. Here is some information you may need in making your decision:

4th & 5th Grade choir students will rehearse on Tuesday's each week.. 6th Grade choir students will rehearse on Wednesday's each week. Please pay close attention to our rehearsal calendar's for all rehearsal days. All rehearsals will begin at 7:00am in the music room #161. Please do NOT arrive/drop- off students early as there will be no supervision before 6:55am. If a rehearsal needs to be cancelled, students will be informed ahead of time (teacher illness, mandatory meetings etc.) via Parent Square. If you have not done so, please sign up for Parent Square as that will be our main source of communication this year for choir events. Choir is a performance-based activity and we will be working on pieces for our winter concert. I have already selected a few fun, challenging, and awesome pieces!

Attendance is very important. I take attendance at every practice. Please be aware that the more a member misses, the harder it is to learn the music. Just like any extra-curricular sporting event, EVERY practice is important. If a student has to miss choir practice, please send a note/message via Parent Square or email before the next practice. The only absences that will be excuse is standing appointments (i.e. doctor, dentist, eye appointments, etc.) as well as being sick and out of school. It will be excused ONLY if we are notified. If a student has three unexcused absences in a semester, they will be removed.

Attached is a choir participation permission slip. We would like all permission forms returned by Thursday, September 12th ! Choir will begin Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00am in the music room for all participating students. Only students who have returned permission slips or signed up online will be allowed to participate in choir. A rehearsal calendar will be given to students at the first practice.
