Milano ISD New to the District Student Transfer Application 2026-2027 School Year

Thank you for your interest in Milano ISD.  Please read this information in its entirety.

Milano ISD is accepting applications for new out-of-district transfers for the 2026-27 school year, subject to available space in all K-12 grade levels. Applicants will need to meet specific criteria to qualify as a transfer student. The deadline for submitting 2026-27 transfer information is Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and time stamps will be used for submissions. Transfers will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served, case-by-case basis. Incomplete transfer packets will not be considered.

Notification of transfer acceptance or rejection will be sent by the end of July.

Enrollment of nonresident students is based on campus capacity. In addition to serving those students who reside in the campus attendance zone, campus capacity is defined as accommodating additional students without incurring additional cost in the form of teachers or classrooms.  Availability of space and instructional staff are factors considered when accepting transfer students.

Please Note:  Parents should not complete the MISD online enrollment process until the transfer application has been approved.

Transfers are evaluated year by year, contingent on compliance with Policy FDA(LOCAL).  The district reserves the right to discontinue this practice should it be determined that it is no longer economically feasible or that space is no longer available. Returning transfer students must reapply each school year.

Revocation of Transfer

Transfer students to Milano ISD are obligated to adhere to all district rules, policies, and regulations, including the Student Code of Conduct, academic requirements, and attendance expectations outlined in FDA(LOCAL). Failure to meet these responsibilities may lead to the revocation of the transfer agreement at any time.

Factors

In determining whether a nonresident student shall be permitted to enroll in Milano ISD, the Superintendent or their designee shall consider the following factors:

1.  The availability of space and instructional staff.

2.  The student’s disciplinary and criminal record.

- A student shall not be allowed to transfer into the District if he or she has incurred a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placement, has been suspended, or expelled for one or more days.

- Recurring or persistent disciplinary problems may be sufficient reasons for rejecting a transfer request.

3.  The student’s attendance record. A student shall not be allowed to transfer into the District if his or her attendance records for the most recent school year indicate less than 90 percent attendance.

4.  Whether the student made satisfactory academic progress during the previous school year. A student shall not be allowed to transfer into the District if he or she has not performed at or above grade level on the most recent state-mandated assessments and satisfied requirements for all academic courses from the previous school year.

5.  Any additional factors not prohibited by law as deemed relevant by the Superintendent or designee.

Appeals

Any appeals shall be made in accordance with FNG(LOCAL) and GF(LOCAL), as appropriate.

For more information about the transfer process, contact Billie Baggerly @ 512-455-2533 or email bbaggerly@milanoisd.net.

When submitting an out of district transfer request, it is crucial to provide a comprehensive set of educational records to assist Milano ISD in making an informed decision for admission. To be considered for a transfer, parents/guardians must provide comprehensive student records. Lack of records may result in the transfer application not being reviewed or considered. Milano ISD will not request any records from a student's current or previous school. Please complete all information below and also submit the following documentation by scanning and emailing to bbaggerly@milanoisd.net. Please submit final records for the 2025-2026 school year; incomplete documents will not be accepted. Records must be for the COMPLETED 2025-2026 school year.

  • Attendance Records
  • Disciplinary Records
  • Academic Records / Report Card including STAAR and EOC scores
  • Any other records needed for review by the transfer committee such as Special Education, 504, GT, ESL or any other related documents

Please note: As a first time transfer student, your child's transfer request will not be considered until all required information and documentation is received.

I fully understand that:

Parents are expected to provide complete accurate information regarding their children. Milano ISD will not request records from previous schools; it is your responsibility to obtain and provide all necessary documentation. (Complete records from the previous school will be reviewed upon receipt by Milano ISD.) Falsified, incomplete or inaccurate records may be grounds for immediate revocation of transfer.

As a parent, I will maintain a positive and supportive relationship with the District/Campus Administration and its employees in compliance with District policy.

Why are you seeking admission to Milano ISD? *
Has the student been placed in In-School Suspension (ISS), Off-School Suspension (OSS), in an alternative education program (DAEP) or expelled previously? *
If you answered “Yes” to the previous question, please provide a detailed explanation of the situation, including when it occurred and any additional information that would assist Milano ISD in evaluating the transfer application.
I have read and understand the following:

The transfer is granted conditionally on student behavior, academic effort, and attendance, including tardies. The transfer is effective for one school year only and can be revoked at any time. Transportation to the assigned school is my responsibility. Falsification of information is a Class A Misdemeanor and can lead to legal action.
