General Background
As a Field Intern for Betsy Dirksen Londrigan’s congressional campaign, you will have the exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced campaign staff and passionate volunteers to help flip a congressional district in the heart of Illinois! Betsy is a small business owner, a non-profit leader, and a former educator who was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. She is a strong advocate for access to healthcare and has put tens of thousands of miles on her car as she has traveled the 13th District speaking with voters about important issues such as education, jobs, and gun violence. This is a resume-building opportunity in which you will learn useful campaign skills while being an integral part of a tight knit, highly-competitive campaign.
Position Information
We are currently seeking both full and part time interns from across the entire 13th congressional district to assist the finance team by implementing the campaign’s fundraising plan. While we plan on having additional campaign offices and staging locations around the district, at the moment our only offices are in Springfield and Champaign. Therefore, unless one has prior experience in campaign work, applicants for this internship should be residents of Springfield or Champaign or willing to relocate to the area. If you are a student, the internship dates and times can be flexible to account for your class schedule.

There are two internship time periods:
Summer: May through August (roughly)
Fall: September through November (roughly)

This position is unpaid, but college students can ask about receiving course or internship credit. Interns will be hired on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities:
- Reaching regular voter contact goals
- Organizing and overseeing field events such as canvasses and phone banks
- Recruiting, managing, and retaining volunteers
- Entering field data into the voter database
- Attending various meetings and events on behalf of the campaign
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to speak persuasively and passionately in both public settings and one-on-one
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel) and Google Applications (including Drive, Docs, and Calendar)
- Previous experience on a political campaign is highly desired
- Previous experience with NGP Votebuilder is highly desired
