Thank you for registering your interest in adjudicating Mooting and Client Interview Competitions.

We offer three competitions to students in the first semester:
- Senior Mooting,
- Junior Mooting and
- Senior Client Interview

A brief description for each competition can be found in the links below:
- Senior and Junior Mooting: http://muls.org/competitions/advocacy/
- Senior Client Interview: http://muls.org/competitions/professional-skills-2/

Each competition has three preliminary rounds which will occur roughly fortnightly across February and March. These will be followed by quarter finals, semi finals and grand finals towards the end of May.

We are extremely grateful for your time and assistance. We hope to receive your support, without which our competitions would not be of such high calibre.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.

Kind regards,

Baheej Sheikh

Locations
The main Macquarie University campus is located at North Ryde. Rounds will take place in either the Moot Court, the Blackshield Room or a designated classroom. Specific room numbers will be allocated on the draw.
Senior Mooting
This is the most prestigious and testing competition available to Macquarie Law students. Similar to Junior Mooting, students are required to prepare written submissions and present oral submissions on appellate matters. The competitors are in their penultimate or final year of study and can be expected to display a high standard of skills and understanding. As such, we encourage you to comprehensively test students through the questions that you ask. Rounds run for approximately 90 minutes. Areas of law typically include Contracts, Remedies, Equity, Torts and Constitutional Law.

Junior Mooting
This competition is targeted at developing the skills of younger students and is restricted to students in their 2nd or 3rd year of study. Students are required to prepare written submissions and present oral submissions on appellate matters. As these students are younger and typically are less experienced, we anticipate that they will undergo a steep learning curve. We encourage you to test their knowledge of the law and understanding of the legal process. Rounds run for approximately 90 minutes. Areas of law typically include Criminal, Contracts and Torts Law.

Senior Client Interview
This competition is available to students in 3rd year and above. Client Interview is one of the most popular skills-based competitions that tests a student’s ability to extract their client’s interests and legal positions. Students are required to work as a team to carefully extract all relevant facts and legal considerations according to the behaviour and circumstances of their client. Rounds run for approximately 90 minutes.
