MSIC: Concerns for School Re-entry Fall 2020
On Wednesday, July 15, the MSIC Executive will be meeting with the NLTA and the Assistant Director of Programming for the NLESD. We are quite happy that the District has reached out for a meeting with each individual SIC to discuss concerns and solutions surrounding the reopening of schools in September. This is meant to be a collaborative session where concerns are brought forward and hopefully some possible solutions to those concerns are presented by the SICs.
Please take a few minutes to complete this survey by Sunday, July 12. We will then review the data and prepare a presentation for our meeting.
Please select your top 3 concerns about schools reopening in the fall
Role of a teacher who has only choral and band classes
Scheduling of high school classes, credit for graduation
Scheduling/use of choir periods in K-6
Contact with a large number of students each day, not one cohort
Location of classes (in the music room? travelling on a cart?)
Will any singing be allowed?
Will Recorder be allowed?
Time for cleaning of space and instruments between cohorts
Music rooms without windows/ventilation
How students will safely move in and out of the music room
Will curriculum be revised if no singing/wind instruments allowed? Who will decide what outcomes are kept or dropped?
Financial support for safe practices: cleaning, individual music kits
Please List any other concerns you have
