Description of the event
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a European intergovernmental research organization at the forefront of Life Science research, with more than 80 independent research groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. France was one of its founding members in 1974 and has supported EMBL ever since.

EMBL operates across five sites: Heidelberg Basic Research Molecular Biology laboratories and four outstations specialized in Structural Biology in Grenoble and Hamburg, in Bioinformatics in Hinxton, and in Mouse Biology, Neurosciences and Epigenetics in Monterotondo, Italy. A fifth outstation specialized in Tissue Biology and Disease Modelling will open in 2017 in Barcelona.

The aim of January 25th event in Paris is to present EMBL activities to young researchers who consider joining EMBL for their PhD or postdoctoral training or consider applying to EMBL group leader positions.

The afternoon will include presentations by EMBL representatives on EMBL organization and scientific interests, on PhD and Postdoctoral training programmes and on EMBL technological platforms. The event will also include presentations by alumni who have been trained at EMBL and will be closed by a scientific presentation from Eric Karsenti, the 2015 winner of CNRS Gold Medal, who has spent 25 years at EMBL as a group leader, head of EMBL Cell Biology and Biophysics Department and scientific director of Tara Oceans expedition.
