STUDENT ADVISORY GROUP APPLICATION 2025-2026                  Deadline: October 25th, 2025
Thank you for your interest in joining the DCSD Student Advisory Group (SAG). Below, you will find information about the group. SAG is an excellent way to represent your school and have the opportunity to share your thoughts with Douglas County School District administrators and the Board of Education.

Purpose:
The Student Advisory Group (SAG) serves as a focus group to enhance communication between District staff, the Board of Education, and students. The group is composed of high school students throughout the district.  Student representatives advocate for areas of improvement that reflect the needs of the student body.

Expectations:
1. Members are expected to display maturity, integrity, and responsibility in all of their actions.
2. Members are expected to follow their school and DCSD rules and expectations.
3. Members are asked to attend at least 6 of 8 SAG meetings.
4. Members are expected to come to meetings prepared to work efficiently and with an open mind.
5. Members are expected to maintain communication between their school and the SAG.

Structure:
The Kick-Off Meeting will be on Monday, August 25th at Echo Park Stadium from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, followed monthly meetings starting September 15th.  Monthly meetings will be located at the DCSD Legacy Campus, 10035 S Peoria St, Parker, CO. Food will be provided and students will earn community service hours for the time they contribute.  During the first semester, students will participate in round table discussions with Board of Education members, leadership workshops, and guest speaker presentations. During the second semester, students will choose subgroups focusing on issues such as AI & Technology, School Safety, Mental Health, and Growth, Equity, and Environmental Impact. Students will create a presentation to share with the Board of Education in April.

Subgroups are an essential component of SAG allowing students to focus on specific areas that they are passionate about. Members will choose their first and second choice for the general areas that they are interested in which will help build the subgroups. The subgroups will be determined in the beginning of the year with the help of the Board of Education. 

Mental Health  - Develops initiatives to promote student and staff mental health

Growth, Equity and Environmental impact- Promotes a more future focused and accepting environment in all DCSD schools and establishments

School Safety - Develops initiatives to create a safer environment in all DCSD schools and establishments

AI & Technology - Helps pioneer ideas surrounding technology access and usage in schools as well as promoting the responsible usage of Artificial Intelligence
