Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a student speaker
for the Spring 2023 commencement ceremony. The person selected will represent
the graduating students of the Class of 2023 and will play a very important
role in the Commencement Ceremony.
The following section describes the criteria and process to
be used for selecting the speaker.
I.
Eligibility
You must be a
candidate for graduation (fall 2022, spring 2023 or summer 2023). Students who
must complete additional courses in fall 2023 to graduate are not eligible to audition.
II.
High Academic Achievement
You must demonstrate academic achievement: have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be
be in good academic standing and without disciplinary infractions.
III.
Public Communication Skills
You must demonstrate the potential to communicate to a large audience on a
graduation-related theme in a meaningful, clear, and an expressive manner.
IV.
University/Community Service
You must have a record of meaningful University and/or community service.
