An important aspect of being a member of the Pathfinder community is understanding that each  individual has an impact on the community as a whole.  This means we are committed to everyone in the space approaching others with kindness and treating the space respectfully.  It also means that we are looking to enroll members who have a desire to participate in center activities, such as classes, projects, community meetings, and discussions, for example.  Does this sound like it fits with how you see yourself joining?  Please describe. *
As the name says, we are a self-directed learning center, which means members take the opportunity to explore and expand.  This does not mean members are on their own to figure everything out, it just means the drive and curiosity comes from the member. Do you feel like this fits for you? Please tell us about it. *
We find that an important element of learning is a willingness to be self reflective in order to best craft one's educational journey.  Some ways students do this is through regular mentor meetings, journaling, regular check ins, discussions with other members. Please talk about how you do this or how you see value in it. *
For the parent/guardian: Family alignment is crucial to a positive experience for the member at Pathfinder.  We impose very few restrictions at the center, like limiting screen time or pushing particular academic pursuits. We find it works best if home expectations are similar because without this alignment the member ends up using center time to decompress from other restrictive environments, rather than being energized to explore. Does this sound like a clear fit with how you want to approach your child's engagement with self-directed education?
