As a member of Randolph Speech and Debate, I make the following agreements, commitments, and acknowledgements about the standard of conduct expected of team members:

I. I am a representative of Randolph Township Schools, Randolph High School, Randolph Speech & Debate, team administrators and coaches, and student leadership. I understand that my actions, words, and behavior reflect on all of the above.

II. I understand that I am bound to all district and school regulations and student codes, rules and principles laid out in the Randolph Speech & Debate Handbook, and any applicable laws or regulations. I also understand that all these are in effect at team meetings, tournaments, or any other venue or activity that the team participates in or hosts, including electronic communications.

III. I commit to treating all students, adults, and any other individual involved in Speech & Debate with respect. I understand that the team has a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, intimidation, or bullying (HIB) of any kind. This includes upholding high standards for moral and ethical behavior. I will not engage in any public behavior that could reflect poorly on the institutions I represent, or undermine their integrity or credibility.

IV. I commit to promptness in all my dealings with the team, including meetings, tournaments, deadlines, etc.

V. I promise to complete any preparation that may be necessary for competition in a timely manner, including consultation with partners, student officers, and coaches.

VI. I commit to balancing my academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities, and will not use one as an excuse to forego the commitments of another.

VII. I understand that competition at tournaments and championships is a privilege, not a right, and is subject to approval from team administration. I further understand that, if I attend any such tournament, any days or periods of academic instruction that I miss are my responsibility.

VIII. When traveling to and on-site at tournaments and competitions, I agree to abide by the rules, guidelines, and instructions of the speech & debate coaches and parent/teacher/chaperones, and to conduct myself in a safe manner at all times. For national tournaments, I also hereby join in and agree to be bound by the release and indemnification agreement signed by my parent/guardian, where applicable by law.

IX. Because membership in Randolph Speech & Debate also entails membership in various state and national leagues, I also commit to upholding the following:
i. All rules and regulations of the New Jersey Speech & Debate League
ii. All rules and regulations of the Newark Diocese Catholic Forensics League
iii. The Code of Honor of the National Speech & Debate Association

X. I have read the Randolph Speech & Debate Team Handbook and am familiar with the additional commitments and requirements therein.
