What is optiMize?
We are an organization at the University of Michigan that offers workshops, mentorship, and funding for students to create self-directed projects that make the world more just and sustainable.

Our primary program is the optiMize Social Innovation Challenge. It's an incubator for student-led projects. Whether students have lots of prior experience or none at all, our supportive community helps them take their next steps.

Projects can receive up to $20,000 — we awarded a total of $215,000 in 2018.

What's the Core Organizing Team?
None of our work would be possible without the dedication and passion of our Core Organizing Team. This team organizes the optiMize Social Innovation Challenge and leads the community.

Members of the Core Team don't work on their own self-directed projects, but instead work to support the projects of hundreds of their peers. This is a crucial part of our community and Core Team members often become the best-known leaders in optiMize.

Why join the Core Team?
-It's an incredible leadership development opportunity with dedicated mentorship from optiMize leaders.
-You'll be a part of a diverse community of students, mentors, and alumni who share your passion for changing the world.
-Core Team members make a real impact with their time at Michigan while developing lifelong skills.
-Core Team members make connections with alumni who can help them find a job they're passionate about.
-We have opportunities to grow and advance to new leadership positions each year you're in optiMize.
