This conference will gather scholars, activists, artists, practitioners and conversation partners of all kinds to explore how feminist theologies might enable us to imagine ‘something else’, a better way. In a time marked by intersecting crises, narratives of disaster and, nevertheless, deep possibilities, we invite fresh perspectives to enact, and sustain, hope and courage.

Where and why does hope flourish? What sustains commitment and resistance in times of trial? What space can be made for dissonance and dissent? How do people engage and encourage others of like-mind and heart? What resources can we find in our contexts and traditions? How do communities cultivate creative practices of transformation? To what are we called?

We welcome contributions that engage topics creatively or through alternative mediums. We welcome contributions from all faith traditions or positions of doubt. We welcome seasoned presenters, student presenters, and in particular all those considering presenting for the very first time.

Our program includes the annual Janette Gray RSM Lecture delivered by Dr Mary Kate Holman (Fairfield University, USA), celebration of the first decade of ACFT, and launch of the 2027 ACFT Art Exhibition.

Possible Themes
We welcome proposals engaging (but not limited to) the following areas:

     - Feminist and queer theological imaginaries
     - Decolonial, Indigenous, and intersectional approaches
     - Engagement with sacred text and historical sources
     - Communities of care, solidarity, and resistance
     - Creativity as theological method (art, poetry, performance, digital practice)
     - Embodiment, materiality, and lived experience
     - Activism, protest, and political theology
     - Ecological justice and multispecies futures
     - Reimagining institutions: church, academy, and beyond
     - Practices of hope, refusal, and transformation

Formats
We invite proposals for:
     - 20-minute papers
     - Research posters
     - Panel sessions
     - Creative or practice-based presentations (e.g., workshops, performances, guided contemplation)

Submission Guidelines
     - Abstract (max. 300 words)
     -  Short bio (100 words)
     - Preferred format (paper / poster / panel / practice-based presentation)
     -  Details of what you need to support your full participation

Key Dates
     - Abstract submission deadline: 31 May 2026
     - Notification of acceptance: by 8 June
     - Conference dates: 21 – 22 August
