HERI-Kenya is excited to host 30-minute virtual tours of our Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farm for our HERI Village!
Diani is a leading tourist destination — but with it comes a major challenge: nearly 60% of the waste generated here is organic. HERI is piloting this BSF farm as a natural solution to manage organic waste that would otherwise pollute the environment and cause public health issues.
The HERI-Kenya Virtual Farm Tours are an innovative and interactive way for people across Kenya and beyond to experience this work without traveling.
During the tour, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at our BSF farm operations — from organic waste collection, sorting, and milling to egg harvesting, batch-up, larvae harvesting, and frass harvesting. You’ll see how these steps turn waste into sustainable products like animal protein feed and organic fertilizer (frass).
Deadline to register: October 6th, 5 PM EAT (for October tours) and November 3rd, 5 PM EAT (for November tours).
