Exploring Perspectives on Renaming Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a term that has been around since 1980 without any name changes. There are advocates proposing that the name be changed to Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) because they believe 'injury' more accurately reflects a condition caused by external traumatic events which is treatable, akin to a physical injury. Advances in neuroscience and brain scans have increasing revealed the physiological impact of trauma and the potential for healing with treatment. Please consider completing this survey to provide your perspective on a potential name change.
