MHS Music Ensemble Registration
Complete this form if your child will participate in an MHS Music Ensemble (One form per child.) Once the form is complete, please double check the details. Once submitted you will receive an email with a copy of your registration details.  

The ensembles are not operated by the school.  They are funded by parents/members and operated by a Music Committee.  Conductors are paid professionals offering incredible expertise to the students.

Rehearsals for ALL ensembles will start around Week 2 or 3, Term 1.

Fees to be a member of and ensemble are set at the beginning of each year. They cover conductors costs for rehearsals and performances, music purchases, supplement excursions/added value experiences and more.
One fee payment covers membership of one or more ensembles. Fees are vary each year dependent upon the number of ensemble members. 2025 fees will be around $700pa - around $15 a week.

Participation and Commitment
Members are required to attend regular attendance of all rehearsals, up to two workshops per year and participation in any competitions, festivals and school performances decided by the ensemble directors.

  • Members are required to be a member of a core ensemble if they wish to participate in a specialist ensemble. Core Ensembles are Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Choir and String Ensemble. There are no exceptions apart from considerations for our senior students.

  • Students who are in elective music (9-12) or special music classes (7 and 8) MUST participate in our ensembles program. If you don’t play an instrument then you will need to participate in choir.

  • Students who undertake tutoring with our private tutors on school premises, MUST participate in our ensembles program as per the conditions above

Ensembles
Tick ALL the Ensembles your child plans to attend. Annual Fee for all Ensembles is approx $550. Sibling Discount $450. The fee entitles the student to attend any ensemble for which they qualify.  

Wind, brass, percussionists/drummers and vocalists MUST be a member of a core ensemble if they wish to be in other ensemble.

CORE ENSEMBLE.  Concert Band (Year 7 and 8). Day to be determined. Dependant upon sign ups. May merge with SWO if numbers are low.

Choir (Year 7 - 12).  Wednesday 3.25 - 4.30pm
MHS Jazz Ensemble  8am Wednesday (invitation only) Members of this group MUST also be in a core ensemble
Jazz Jam session.  'Thursday 3.20pm. Open to everyone. Members in this group MUST also be in a CORE Ensemble.  
String Ensemble (Open to 7 - 12).   Thursday 7.45am
Percussion Ensemble. Monday 7.45am. Members MUST be a member of a CORE Ensemble
Guitar Ensemble.  Tuesday 3.30pm. Open to all level of abilities.

Student/Parent Agreement
The Student Agreement outlines the student’s commitment to, and expectations of, joining an Ensemble. Please have your child read and understand each of the following:
O I commit to attend rehearsals and performances to achieve at 90% or higher attendance rate.
O I agree to arrive at rehearsals and assist with set up and be ready to play by the agreed ‘first note played time’  as directed by the Ensemble Director.
O I have read, understand and agree to abide by the rules set down in the Ensemble Director/Music Staff
O I agree to show respect to my fellow band members and the conductor during rehearsals and performances through behaving in a manner that does not interrupt the rehearsals and inhibit the rehearsal being productive.
O I agree to inform the Music Committee of any absence prior to the rehearsal.
O I agree to practice with due diligence and participate in private tutoring.
O I agree to take all due care of the instruments, music and equipment.
O I agree to wear the ensemble attire to all performances including black shoes
O I agree to give written notification, provided by a parent / guardian, to the Music Committee if I wish to discontinue my membership.
O I agree to be filmed / photographed for use in the school newsletter and on the Mosman High Music facebook page (private) and Mosman High Music website.

Parental Agreement
O I agree to support the ensembles program by encouraging my child to abide by the student agreement (as set out above)
