Alternative Break Leadership Board Position Description
Leadership Board members will be primarily responsible for supporting and guiding the Alternative Break program through training, outreach, and coordination of program logistics.
Each Leadership Board member will be required to complete 5 office hours per week in the Center for Civic Engagement, attend weekly Leadership Board meetings, and meet one-on-one with the Assistant Director.
In addition to the responsibilities specifically designated for each position, board members will be asked to periodically assist in the facilitation of training meetings, participant meetings, promotional events, etc.
Responsibilities of ALL Leadership Board members o Aid in fundraising and promotional efforts. o Assist in planning participant send-off and Return & Reflect events. o Reach out to classes, professors, and clubs about Alternative Break. o Commit to facilitating at least 1 large group meeting o Comply with CCE office standards.
Open Position DescriptionsRecruitment and Outreach Coordinator o Responsible for scheduling Alternative Break recruitment tabling events and information sessionso Reach out to student organizations, academic departments, First Year Experience courses, and other College of Charleston offices to recruit participants and Site Leaders
Fundraising Coordinatoro Coordinate and implement annual Letter Writing Campaigno Develop and coordinate at least 2 additional major program fundraisers per semestero Assist with budgeting for trips
Communications and Records Coordinator o Collaborate with Assistant Director in communications with participants o Connect with community partners o Attend all large group meetingso Keep track of participant and Site Leader attendance and report to Assistant Director
Leadership Development Coordinator** o Assist facilitation of Site Leader training sessionso Assist with planning and facilitation of Site Leader Retreato Provide support to Site Leaders as needed **The majority of the work involved in this position will be over the fall semester**
