The March to End Fossil Fuels | Organizational Endorsement Form

Fossil fuels are driving the climate emergency. The U.S. is the top global oil and gas producer and the largest historic emitter. President Biden can and must stop approving fossil fuel development, phase out existing production, and declare a climate emergency to accelerate a just transition off fossil fuels. But so far, he’s rubber-stamped one new oil and gas project after the next. 

Luckily, we have an incredible opportunity this year to escalate pressure on Biden to take action on fossil fuels. In September, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is hosting a global Climate Ambition Summit in New York City where heads of state are asked to come with concrete steps to keep fossil fuels in the ground. 

On September 17th, 2023, we will take action in New York City and across the country to demand that Biden take bold steps to end the era of fossil fuels. Our actions will be creative, disruptive, non-violent, and involve large numbers of people. This will require a lot of work from different groups of all types: recruitment, training, communications, art, facilitation, logistics, and more. 

Over three hundred organizations are holding a mass mobilization in New York on Sunday, September 17, along with other actions in the surrounding days. More groups are joining, and all are welcome! Please fill out the form below so we know how your organization would like to support and plug in.

Note that by filling out this form, your organization will be listed on public-facing recruitment materials (including this website: https://www.endfossilfuels.us/) and at minimum, can commit to support promotion and recruitment for September.

1. STOP FEDERAL APPROVALS for new fossil fuel projects and REPEAL permits for climate bombs like the willow project and the mountain valley pipeline.

2. PHASE OUT FOSSIL FUEL DRILLING  on our public lands and waters.

3. DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY  To halt fossil fuel exports and investments abroad, and turbo-charge the build-out of more just, resilient distributed energy (like rooftop and community solar).

4. PROVIDE A JUST TRANSITION  to a renewable energy future* that generates millions of jobs while supporting workers’ and community rights, job security, and employment equity.

*Our renewable energy future must not repeat the violence of the extractive past. Justice must ground the transition off fossil fuels to redress the climate, colonialist, racist, socioeconomic, and ecological injustices of the fossil fuel era.
